Why Does The Galaxy Note 10 Exist?

Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ at its Unpacked event on August 7 in New York. The latest flagship duo from the company have a lot to offer but when you're living in a world where the Galaxy S10+ exists, it's hard to justify buying the standard Note 10.

The Galaxy Note 10 starts at a price of Rs. 69,999 in India whereas the S10+ is currently available at a starting price of Rs. 73,900.

Of course, you do get the slightly slimmer bezels and boxier design and the extra storage space on the Galaxy Note 10256GB when compared to the S10+'s 128GB which might be a bonus for some although most users are satisfied with 128GB of onboard storage.

Apart from the S-Pen and higher onboard storage, the Galaxy Note 10 falls behind the S10+ in most other aspects.

Here are a few things the Note 10 lacks when compared to the S10+:

  • No headphone jack.
  • FullHD+ display vs QHD+ on the S10+.
  • 3500mAH battery vs 4100mAH.
  • Non-expandable storage vs expandable storage up to 512GB on the S10+.
  • No heart-rate sensor.

By simply going through the features the Note 10 lacks over the Galaxy S10+, it isn't hard to see the compromise Samsung made with the Note 10 to make the Note 10+ the more compelling device of the flagship duo.

While none of the missing features are complete deal-breakers, you'd still be spending more than half a lakh or almost a thousand dollars on the Note 10 which is supposed to be Samsungs 'no-compromise' smartphone which clearly isn't in this case.

Heck, even the standard OnePlus 7 puts up a good fight against the Note 10 to invest your hard-earned dough in without having to think twice.

In conclusion, Samsung's Galaxy Note 10 isn't a 'bad' device by any means, however, that isn't to say that it's any better than most other flagships currently available and with the launch of the Google Pixel 4 just around the corner, buying the Note 10 is hard to justify.

Nonetheless, it all boils down to how important the S-Pen is to you. If you're someone who simply can't do without the S-Pen, then you already know the answer to 'Should I buy the Galaxy Note 10', for the rest, wait for the Pixel 4 or the OnePlus 7T/ 7T Pro or simply grab the Galaxy S10+.
