Samsung Announces Exynos 9825 Chipset

The South Korean giant has officially unveiled its latest flagship chipset which is the Exynos 9825. Samsung had teased the new chipset on its twitter account a couple of days ago with the caption: "Power evolved. August 7, 2019. #NextGenPower."

This new chipset is the worlds first processor built with 7nm EUV processing technology which basically means that the Exynos 9825 would be a fair bit more powerful and power-efficient than the Exynos 9820 which is found on the Galaxy S10 lineup.

The chipset features two Cortex-A75 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores coupled with the Mali-G76 MP12 GPU which the company claims runs at a higher clock speed than previous generations.

What's even more interesting is the fact that the new chipset now supports 8K UHD video encoding at 30FPS and 4K encoding at 150FPS. Not only does the chipset support 4K media playback but it also supports HDR10+ too.

Other specifications include support for UFS 3.0 storage as well as UFS 2.1. The chipset, however, does not support LPDDR5 DRAM which is a tad strange since Samsung's product page only indicates support for LPDDR4x.

Of course, the Exynos 9825 also supports a screen resolution of up to 4K UHD (4096 x 2160) although 4K UHD resolution on a Smartphone still does not make much sense at the moment, however, would be excellent on a tablet.

Nonetheless, we'll simply have to wait for the launch of the Galaxy Note 10 lineup to see how the Exynos 9825 on the Note 10 or Note 10+ stacks up against the Galaxy S10 lineup of devices with the Exynos 9820.
