Is The Redmi Note 8 Pro Waterproof?

Xiaomi revealed today that the Redmi Note 8 Pro would be launching in India on October 16. Just about every manufacturer has to cut corners with their budget smartphones to keep costs down. This results in budget phones not receiving any IP rating. If you're wondering whether the Redmi Note 8 Pro is waterproof, then here's everything you need to know.

The Note 8 Pro does not have any official IP rating. Ingress Protection ratings are used to define how well-sealed and protected an electrical enclosure is from things such as water or dust. This does not mean that the Redmi Note 8 Pro would be damaged with minor contact with water.

As we've seen with Xiaomi's other budget offerings such as the Redmi Note 7 and 7 Pro. The devices do have a splashproof body. While we are not suggesting exposing your brand new Redmi Note 8 to liquids, in case of an accidental spill the device should not suffer any water damage.

Do make sure to wipe off any liquid spills as quickly as possible since even the smallest drop of water making its way into the device can damage the circuitry. No mainstream smartphone is completely "waterproof".

The Note 8 Pro features the new Helio G90T chipset from MediaTek. This new gaming-oriented chipset would make the Note 8 Pro outperform just about any other smartphone in its price range. The price in India hasn't been revealed yet. However, we would be updating the post once the price has been revealed.
