However, before proceeding, it's worth noting that this process only works on Exynos variants of Samsung devices. The bootloader of Snapdragon variants of Samsung devices cannot be unlocked easily and require a lot of trial and error, hence not worth the effort.
So if you're ready to unlock the bootloader on your Samsung smartphone, then simply follow the steps below.
Steps to unlock the bootloader on Samsung devices
Important: Unlocking the bootloader on your device would reset it completely and erase all content hence before proceeding I'd suggest backing up all data on the device to avoid losing valuable files and documents.
- Launch the Settings page on your device.
- You would now have to unlock the Developer options on your device. (Skip step 3 and 4 if developer options is enabled on your device.)
- Tap on About phone and then tap on Software information.
- Now you'd have to tap on Build number 7 times consecutively.
- Head back to the Settings page and scroll down and select Developer options.
- Simply toggle on the OEM unlocking option in the Developer options page.
- Of course, you'd see a warning claiming that all data would be erased and Knox would be tripped once you make any OS changes after unlocking the bootloader.
- Simply go through the warning and then enter your Pin or Password to proceed with unlocking the bootloader.
- The device would reboot automatically and the entire process should take around 30 - 40 minutes.
- Voila, the device's bootloader is now unlocked.
