Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha Launched With 180% Screen-To-Body Ratio
Xiaomi's rumored wrap-around smartphone is finally here and it's absolutely amazing. The Mi Mix Alpha is the first smartphone in the world to feature a 180 percent screen-to-body ratio which is just bonkers.
We've already seen "waterfall" displays on smartphones such as the Vivo Nex 3 and Huawei's Mate 30 series. However, the Mi Mix Alpha takes curved screens to a whole other level.
The company is calling the new display type "surround screen" since it wraps right around the device with only the camera module separating it from meeting the other curved edge of the screen. Of course, the Mi Mix Alpha comes with the latest Snapdragon 855+ processor coupled with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
Camera-wise the Mi Mix Alpha packs in Samsung's new 108 MP camera sensor which is also a 'worlds first' in a smartphone — along with two other 12 MP + 20 MP sensors. There's no front-facing selfie camera since users would be able to simply flip the phone around and use the main camera for capturing high-detailed selfies.
There's a 4,050mAh battery to power the device which might make it seem as though it may not get the device through a full day of use, however, since the entire display isn't turned on all the time, we assume that the battery life should be average.
Durability and accidental touch issues are something we might have to look out for since the all-screen smartphone is the first of its kind.
Xiaomi has claimed that the Mi Mix Alpha would go on sale in December and the device is priced at Yuan 19,999 or roughly USD 2,800 which would make it the most expensive smartphone launched by the company.
