The Best Digital Wellbeing Alternative On Android
Google introduced Digital Wellbeing at I/O 2018 with an aim to make users aware of the amount of time spent on their smartphones.
Unfortunately, the Digital Wellbeing app isn't yet available on most smartphones other than Google's own Pixel devices and a few non-Pixel devices.
There's no reason to be disappointed though since there's an excellent application developed by Android app developer Chris Lacy.
ActionDash: Digital Wellbeing & Screen Time helper is the app in the spotlight since it offers everything you'd need to keep track of your smartphone usage and even has a few extra features up its sleeves that you wouldn't find with Google's Digital Wellbeing app.
HOW TO USE ACTIONDASH
Let's check out how to set up the ActionDash application an how to use it.
- Download and install ActionDash by clicking here.
- After installing the application, launch it and enable usage data access for the app to function.
- Once you've granted usage data access for the application, you'd be able to see the dashboard with the amount of time you've spent on your device in the day and the apps you've been using.
- From here, you can also tap on the Weekly tab to check out usage history from the past week.
- Tappin on the App icon in the dashboard would allow you to see usage stats for the selected app specifically.
- You can check the number of times you've launched the app in a day or in an hour by tapping on the Phone like icon in the middle at the top bar.
- If you want to see the number of notification you receive via an application, you'd have to grant ActionDash notification access.
- Tap on the Bell icon from the top bar and then tap on the prompt at the top of the screen to grant notification access.
- Simply toggle on notification access for Notification insights.
- Voila, you'd now be able to see the number of notifications you receive from each application.
- Swiping left from the main page of the application would bring you over to the time spent on each application.
- The second left swipe would bring you to the page that shows you the number of times you launch an app.
- If you select the Notification icon page, you'd be able to see the number of notifications you've received in the whole day and even the entire week.
- Lastly, you can also check out the number of times you've unlocked your device within an hour, day or the entire week.
The Plus version of the application does offer a few more features such as a cool dark mode and the ability to hide applications as well.
This means you'd be able to hide the applications you tend to spend a lot of your time on hence it would make it easier for you to focus on work.
However, it isn't necessary that you buy the Plus version of ActionDash since the free version does work fairly well with ads and serves its purpose without any bells and whistles.
ActionDash is perfect for those whose devices do not support Digital Wellbeing yet want to track and keep their smartphone usage under control.
