'Threads' By Instagram Could Be A New Snapchat Rival
'Threads' is a new app currently in development by Facebook which would allow users to share images, messages, location and more with their 'close friends' according to The Verge.
The application acts as a companion app to Instagram and is designed specifically for users to view and share things only with people whom they've added to their Close Friends list on Instagram.
Of course, Instagram has declined to comment on the information which means Threads isn't yet an official application and could be ditched at any moment.
Threads would also have a feature for automatic sharing for users to opt-in. Once a user chooses to opt-in for the automatic sharing feature, the app would share the user's real-time location, speed, and a couple of other details with their close friends.
It's worth keeping in mind that Instagram was also working on a direct messaging application called Direct which it pulled the plug on since it didn't meet the company's expectations.
Threads is currently being tested internally and we might have to wait a few months before Instagram offers any details on the application.
