Best Smartphones Under 20000 in India

The lucrative smartphone market in India has brought over several phone makers from various other countries especially China.

While the flagship market is mostly dominated by OnePlus, Samsung, and Apple, it's a whole other story when it comes to the budget smartphone market.

Xiaomi used to have 'the best' budget devices and had little to no competition when the company launched its Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 4 devices; however, other new and even some old players are slowly taking a bite off from Xiaomi's market share.

The companies we are referring to here are; Asus, Realme, and Honor. Nonetheless, if you're in the market to buy a smartphone within the INR 20,000 price segment, then you've got several great options to choose from.

To make things easier, we've created a list of the best smartphones currently available in India under the INR 20,000 price range.

TOP SMARTPHONE PICKS UNDER 20000

1. Xiaomi POCO F1 - AAD Rating 8.5/10

Without a doubt, the POCO F1 is the best smartphone currently available in the Indian market. It's still the only smartphone under 20k that packs in the Snapdragon 845 chipset which makes it an affordable powerhouse.

Xiaomi's MIUI skin over Android offers a ton of useful features and the company regularly releases updates and fixes for the device. If you're looking out for a phone to game on and don't mind sacrificing a bit on the build, then the POCO F1 should be the phone in your pocket.

2. Honor Play - AAD Rating 8/10

The Honor Play is our current best recommendation since the device has received a massive price cut and the device is currently available under 15k which is a steal, to be honest. The device packs in the Kirin 970 chipset which is almost as good as the SD 845.

You would also get a much better build quality with the Honor Play since the device has an aluminum body rather than a polycarbonate body as on the POCO F1. It also has received the latest Android Pie update and we do expect to see Android Q make its way over to the device later on in the year.

3. Redmi Note 7 Pro - AAD Rating 8.5/10

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 7 Pro is a true budget smartphone king since it has almost no competition at the moment except from the Realme 3 Pro which is another great device. The Note 7 Pro comes with the latest Snapdragon 675 chipset and has Gorilla Glass 5 to the front as well as the back of the device.

This budget powerhouse is capable of handling most everyday tasks without breaking a sweat and has dual rear cameras: 48MP + 5MP (depth sensor). The large 4000 mAh battery offers enough juice to power the device for a full day although your mileage may vary based on usage.

4. Realme 3 Pro - AAD Rating 8.5/10

The Realme 3 Pro has just launched and is a true competitor to the Redmi Note 7 Pro in all ways. It packs in the Snapdragon 710 AIE chipset and has the company's VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 technology which means you'd be able to charge the device within no time at all.

Even the battery is marginally bigger than the Note 7 Pros at 4045mAh and the device is capable of capturing 960fps slow-motion video. Of course, Android 9 Pie is pre-loaded as well.

5. Xiaomi Mi A2 - AAD Rating 7.5/10

The Mi A2 wasn't the successor we were hoping for to OG Mi A1 which garnered an impressive fanbase. A higher price and lack of innovation or any major upgrade made the Mi A2 hard to recommend. So why is it on the list? Well, the device has received a massive price cut making it an appealing deal at the moment.

Being one of the only good smartphones with stock Android under 13k, the Mi A2 is perfect for those looking out for a stock Android device. Of course, the device also comes with the tried and tested Snapdragon 660 which offers decent performance.

6. Samsung Galaxy A50 - AAD Rating 7.5/10

Samsung's budget offerings in the past have been mostly terrible and weren't anywhere close to what the competition had to offer. Fortunately, the company seems to have understood the importance of having a good budget smartphone since the South Korean giant is now releasing a bunch of new A series and M series devices.

The Galaxy A50 comes with a brilliant full-screen design with a teardrop notch and minimal bezels. It also has a Super AMOLED display which is way better than the LCD displays we find on most other devices under 20k. The Exynos 9610 SoC is a fairly capable processor hence the device can handle everyday tasks with ease.

7. Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 - AAD Rating 7/10

Asus has been releasing some excellent budget as well as mid-range smartphones in the past couple of years and the Zenfone Max Pro M2 is easily one of the best budget devices from the company. It packs in the Snapdragon 660 processor and a whopping 5000mAh battery.

The 6.26-inch notched screen offers a decent viewing experience and the dual rear cameras are just as good as any other smartphone within its price; however, the Note 7 Pro edges out the Zenfone Max Pro M2 by a slight margin in camera performance. Nonetheless, those looking out for a stock Android experience should definitely check out this fantastic smartphone.
